Home Try-On vs. Virtual Try-On

The David Kind Home Try-On Experience is truly unique.  It is how most of our customers prefer to find their frames. Our Home Try-On process provides each customer with access to their own personal optician.  The opticians on staff provide expertise that will help ensure a perfect fit for your prescription, face shape and personal style. While Home Try-On Experience is favored by the majority of clients, we’re frequently asked about the availability of Virtual Try-Ons.

Why are virtual try-ons popular?

Virtual Try-Ons are offered by many online eyewear brands. They are popular for their ability to help customers visualize themselves in a style.  Also, it allows one to try on without a monetary commitment. They are extremely convenient but are only helpful to a certain extent.

Why try-on virtually?

We believe the primary benefit of a Virtual Try-On is that it can assist with the decision-making process. It allows you to see yourself in a general style or frame color. This is a great way to ascertain if a frame might be a good match for you and it can be fun to experiment with your own clothing and different outfits. Lastly, it can help narrow down potential frame choices for your Home Try-On.

Why should you opt for the Home Try-On Experience?

While Virtual Try-Ons can give you a general sense of frame style, they are not equivalent to trying on a pair of frames in real life. Eyewear has minute measurements.  These small details are important in understanding how a specific frame will really look and feel on your face. A virtual try on cannot capture the bridge fit, how tight or loose the frame will feel or where the eyes sit in the frames.  These are all extremely important elements because it effects comfort and sight. We highly encourage customers to try on a variety of frames in-person before selecting a final pair with prescription.

We think Home Try on and Optician experience is best.

With our Home Try-On Experience, customers receive six frames to try on at home for six days.  You pick three, your optician picks three to increase the odds of finding the right pair. This process allows for insight regarding your prescription, frame fit and the best lens material choice. Plus, you can feel and compare each individual style in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace.  While we appreciate and encourage the use of Virtual Try-Ons, we recommend utilizing all try-on experiences available to ensure confidence in the final purchase.
