Summer Eyewear Style Guide

Summer is in full swing — bringing with it higher temps, beach days and lighter wardrobes. Freshen up your summer eyewear style with new frames that are on trend for this season, but also lightweight enough for the warm days ahead. We’ve outlined some of our favorite looks for summer 2020 — for working from home, hitting the beach or reading in the sun.

LIGHTER COLORS

When picking a new frame for summer, we recommend selecting a lighter colored frame like the Wexler 45 in Rose or the Richmond in Citrine Quartz. Tints in translucent frames are a trend this year that we are seeing continue through the summer, and lighter colors feel fresh — especially when paired with brighter summer styles. Completely translucent frames, like our Otto in Diamond, are a timeless staple and act like a neutral that will transition from season to season.

LIGHTWEIGHT FRAMES

When temperatures soar to the upper 80s, heavy frames can weigh you down. We recommend selecting a lightweight style like the Kodachi or Katana, as they are less likely to slip down your face when things get a little sweaty. The streamlined style also has a “lighter” appearance, making it easier to pair with linen shirts and casual dresses.

SUNGLASS CLIPS

Up your eyewear game with the addition of clips. They’re a tried-and-true way to eliminate glare with your prescription eyewear. David Kind offers a variety of colorways in made-to-order sunglass clips, allowing you to get bold with metallic contrasts or add a high brow bar to your frames. Available in any frame tone, our sunglass clips are polarized and can be customized to match your frame color. You can work with our David Kind opticians to customize your own unique pair, which are then handmade in California. Our sunglass clips allow you to transition easily from (home) office to beach, with just one simple, stylish clip.
